Surprise Ailments That Pop Up As We Age

In life, we have heard a thousand times over that health comes first and without good health we have nothing. This is absolutely true, for what is all the beauty or wealth in the world if we don’t have good health? As we grow older though, many ailments occur. Things that we don’t really think about in our 20’s and early 30’s just pop up. Suddenly we wake up one day to find many ailments that actually surprise us. Here is a list of some of those ailments:
Memory Loss
When we are young, our long and short-term memories are really good. In school and college we are able to remember things and study and recall things easily. As we grow older we sometimes pick up bad habits like drinking alcohol which affects the cells in our brain. Besides that, we also stop exercising and this also affects our memory in the long term. Suddenly we are in our our late 30’s or early 40’s and it genuinely can take us a while before we even remember what we did the day before. Recollecting things, like where we put our keys or sunglasses (which may be resting on top of our heads!) can even occur. Memory loss is no joke and can eventually lead to Alzheimer’s in our late 60’s. It’s really important then from early on to take supplements that help with memory loss from a young age such as Omega-3 fatty acids which help improve your memory. Solution: Up your Omega-3 intake through the right kinds of foods (like salmon) and Omega-3 supplements.
Stiff Joints
During our youthful years we are limber and supple. That is why so many children excel at sports such as acrobatics and gymnastics. We are able to do sports easily, run fast, compete in basketball, do ballet and other forms of dance. It’s just so easy. As we get older most of us don’t carry on with sports and over time our joints get stiffer. We are just not as fit any more and it’s a real shame. A lot of us also will suffer from arthritis which can be debilitating and extremely painful.
Solution: Carry on exercising each day, even if it means walking briskly for 30 minutes and attend stretch and yoga classes. Also eat food that does not cause inflammation and take supplements such as turmeric that help with inflammation.
Hair Loss
When I was younger I would look at my long hair in the mirror and exclaim, “Wow, I have ‘Bon Jovi’ hair”. That was the term I would use referring to lead singer Jon Bon Jovi of the group ‘Bon Jovi’ who had long wild hair which mirrored my own. It was long and curly, thick and beautiful. Now, years on, my hair is much weaker and thinner and has a real tendency to fall out and this is a common problem for people as they age. Men totally freak out when their hair starts falling out and they go bald. Often they will end up shaving their entire head. Hair loss can be extremely traumatic for women!
Solution: Stock up on Biotin supplements and get as much protein and Vitamin C into your diet. Exercise will also help.
